While in New York City for the 2010 Joey Ramone Birthday Bash, Richie was asked to speak to fifty music students at Xavier High School. The school's band moderator heard Richie on a radio interview and decided to contact him. Richie gladly agreed to do the speaking engagement on May 19th. The focus of Richie's visit was to encourage the students to work hard, have discipline and to continue to work on their dreams. He urged them to learn how to read music as it is important to avoid being limited to only playing an instrument. A special treat to both the students and Richie was when they all performed jazz-rock arrangements. After the jam session, Richie signed autographs and posed for pictures. Giving back to the kids has always been one of Richie's favorite things to do.
